Get Out and Play at These Waldorf MD ParksWhether you’re looking to get outside and play with your kids, or you’re simply wanting to enjoy some outdoor time on your own with a good hike, there are plenty of parks around Waldorf, Maryland, with the amenities you need. On the next beautiful day, hop in the car and head out to explore these great Waldorf parks.

1. Cedarville State Forest

Situated just outside Waldorf, Cedarville State Forest offers 3,510 acres of protected land for you to enjoy. If you’re interested in hiking, biking, or horseback riding, there are 19.5 miles of marked trails throughout the park. Trails range from the 2-mile Swamp Trail to the 5-mile Holly Trail, and trail difficulty ranges between easy and moderate. There’s also a four-acre pond stocked with bass, catfish, bluegill, and sunfish available for fishing, and a family camping area with 27 campsites.

2. White Plains Regional Park

White Plains Regional Park has plenty of activities for everyone in the family. There’s an 18-hole public golf course with Bermuda grass fairways and groomed greens. You’ll also find a 15,000-square-foot concrete-based skatepark with different sized bowls and transitions. Finally, for the four-legged family members there’s a one-acre, fence-enclosed dog park where dogs can run, play, and exercise off-leash.

3. Robert D. Stethem Memorial Sports Complex

When you’re looking to play some sports, head out to the Robert D. Stethem Memorial Sports Complex. Here you’ll find one football practice area and ten little league and big league baseball fields. You can also take advantage of the picnic pavilion to enjoy a meal in the shade. Finally, there’s a playground with separate equipment for small and big children. There are slides, bouncers, bars, and climbing equipment.

4. Laurel Springs Regional Park

Located just south of Waldorf in La Plata, Laurel Springs Regional Park has numerous facilities for everyone in the family to enjoy. Go for a walk on the natural surface trail that loops around the wooded perimeter of the park. With five soccer fields, one football field, two full-size baseball fields, three little league fields, and five softball fields, it’s easy to enjoy playing one of your favorite sports. There’s also a large playground with slides, swings, ladders, climbers, and areas with an emphasis on special needs play.

5. Indian Head Rail Trail

Indian Head Rail Trail stretches from a trailhead on Theodore Green Boulevard in White Plains to another trailhead on Mattingly Avenue in Indian Head. The trail is open from dawn to dusk for bike riders and walkers. Along the way on this 13-mile paved trail you’ll enjoy scenic views of farmland, natural wetlands, and mature forests. Some wildlife you might spot while on the trail include bald eagles, deer, wild turkeys, and a variety of waterfowl. Dogs are welcome on the trail as long as they’re on a 6-foot or less non-retractable leash, and owners must clean up after their pets.
