Waldorf Chevrolet-Cadillac

Oct 19, 2017

Waldorf, Maryland, is a fantastic city to be in this October. If you’re a fan of the Halloween season, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to celebrate in town and throughout the surrounding area. Here are four activities and events to help commemorate the holiday in Waldorf.Orange pumpkin in a pumpkin patch.

Attend a Halloween Festival

There are many Halloween festivals in Maryland that you can attend. For example, adults and teenagers can go to the Nightmare Halloween Music and Art Festival in Darlington. This event runs from October 27 through the 28th and includes live music, an art gallery, costume contests, and many other terrifying attractions.

For something more family friendly, consider ZooBOOO! in Baltimore. Kids will love to visit The Maryland Zoo, which will be hosting trick-or-treating, costume contests, carnival games, and other fun seasonal activities.

Visit a Real-Life Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin carving is a fun Halloween activity, but you don’t have to settle for picking a pumpkin from a grocery store this year. Instead, go to the source at one of two farms in Waldorf!

Your first choice is Middleton’s Cedar Hill Farm, located at Cedar Hill Place. In addition to visiting the pumpkin patch and picking one to take home, you can see the farm animals, find your way through an 8-acre maze, and take a barrel train ride.

Shlagel Farms on Shlagel Road is your second choice. On weekends in October, you can visit and pick your own pumpkin. During the weekdays, you can visit with your young kids for a wagon ride and tour and stop by the petting zoo.

Get Terrified at a Haunted House

Attending a haunted house is the ultimate experience on Halloween. There are many options near Waldorf, such as Scream City Haunted House. This top-rated haunted house has attractions operating in two locations this year: Ocean City and Olney. If you’re up for the road trip, these are two of the nation’s best.

For something unique and closer to home, plan a Ghosts of Sotterley Tour. At Sotterley Plantation in Hollywood, you can take a haunted tour through the property. This is a 300-year-old plantation, so it’s the perfect setting for some Halloween terror!

Visit Area Halloween Stores

You’ll need to visit a retailer to pick up supplies for any Halloween parties you’re planning and to find the perfect costume. Stop by Halloween City of Waldorf to find all the gear you need and to get into the spirit of the season. Halloween City is a local costume superstore where you can shop a range of costumes and decorations. Subscribe to the email list for a 20 percent off coupon on a single item.

Whether you want to enjoy some seasonal not-so-scary fun with your family this year or are looking for a heart-pounding experience, you can find something suitable in or near Waldorf. Visit one of the attractions or events in this list, or plan a trick-or-treating path through your neighborhood. Either way, you’re sure to have fun getting into the Halloween spirit!
